Community & Family Engagement: Principals Share What Works — Amy C. Berg, Atelia Melaville and Martin J. Blank
Principals are increasingly turning to the community to help them engage families, share resources and meet standards. Informed by the work of principals, this paper finds six keys to community engagement that help school leaders engage families, staff, partners and the larger community in the life of the school.

Organizational Facilitators — UCLA Center for Mental Health in Schools
Stresses that substantive systemic changes require guidance and support from professionals with mastery level competence for creating a climate for change, facilitating change processes, and establishing an institutional culture where key stakeholders continue to learn and evolve. Highlights a change model for establishing, sustaining, and scaling-up school and community reforms and the role of an Organization Facilitator to aid with major restructuring.

Education and Community Building: Connecting Two Worlds — Institute for Educational Leadership
Breaks new ground by helping educators and community leaders understand and respect the assets and talents that each brings to the goal of improving student learning. It presents several "sticking points" and identifies "rules of engagement" to facilitate better communication between school and community.
